"The day has happened, my beloved poppa, a man who taught me respect, love and raised me since I was a baby, has passed on through the pearly gates. My heart weeps and wishes he hasn't gone but I know that hes at peace now, and that I will have him by my side through the rest of my days.
Poppa my dearest, a man who only cared about his family, friends and his cooking, you can now rest with a nice cold Tui in your hand.
I love you now and forever more"

A heartbreaking event has happened for me this week, My dear Poppa who is practically a farther to me as left this world. His struggle against lymphoma has slowly weakened him and taken his life, yet he passed on peacefully. It was very hard to draw this without crying every hour, but in the end I'm happy i managed to complete this to a level I can say this really represents him.
And I know that deep down he isn't truly gone but still looking out for his family, with his over generosity, humor and love.
A typical Italian man, very proud and bold he is a true inspiration in my eyes, he taught me to never give up trying no matter how hard an issue may seem, to fight against whatever tries to hurt you. His story of battling his stroke was a very memorable one, despite the doctors saying he wont be able to walk, talk, cook, write or drive He beat those lies and really showed his true determination and strength to everyone, he learnt to do all those things and didn't see his half paralyzed body as a weakness, he re-learned it all and lived a happy normal life again.
I will miss him terribly, I will miss when he would tease me by calling me 'Maria the Flea' or 'the Bludgeon', I even miss when he'd call me and mum 'Stupid, Stupid women', it always made us laugh, when he'd steal our food when we weren't looking, when I was just a little one after bath time he'd attack and tickle me with the towel each and every time, when hes watching T.V. me and my brother would sit on his back while we watched as well.

I love you Poppa, till now and forever more, and I will always have you in my heart <3
